TIPS ON THE BEST FOOD TO EAT BEFORE AND AFTER A WORKOUT
Figuring out what to eat before and after a workout can be such a struggle but it's worth it. Everyone is built different and the key to make the best choices for YOU, is learning to understand your body. It will always tell you exactly what you need. Depending on my fitness goals I might decide to partake in a fasted workout or if I need extra fuel I’ll reach for something nutritional and beneficial. When it comes to a pre-workout snack, what you choose to put in your mouth is important.
Of course what you eat after a workout is really important too. Indeed refueling after exercise gives your body what it needs to recover from the exertion and helps you build bigger, stronger muscles.
Being intentional about what you eat before and after exercising will help you maximize the benefits of all your hard work at the gym. So what’s the best pre-workout snack? And what’s best to eat after a workout? The suggestions below is what helped me attain my goals but I can’t stress enough how vital it is to figure what works best for you.
Pre-workout snacks:
Carbs = energy. Some carbs I recommend eating before a workout for quick energy include a granola bar, a piece of fruit (Banana), oatmeal, crackers, a rice cake, or a piece of toast.
In addition to carbs, consider consuming a little bit of protein before your workout—especially if you are doing weight training. Go for sources of protein that are easy to digest like nuts, Greek yogurt, a slice of turkey or a hard-boiled egg.
Post-workout meals:
My post-workout meals are usually loaded with healthy protein and complex carbs.
Complex carbohydrates include Quinoa, Brown Rice, Nuts and Whole Wheat Bread. Healthy proteins include Beans, Fish and Tofu.
These are just a few guidelines and tips on what has worked for me in achieving my personal fitness goals. The Premium Fit 4 Week Transformation Guide goes more in depth and easily explains nutritional fundamentals.
Remember to be kind to yourself and your body.
Hope this helps a bit. Sending you High Vibes!
